Cazuela de mariscos is another famous Colombian dish. It is mostly made in the Pacific coast, but in the big cities you can find restaurants that serve cazuela de mariscos. Cazuela de mariscos is a dense soup made of seafood. There are also other types of cazuela, without sea food, but those are less famous.
Cazuela de mariscos is made with shrimps, clamps, octopus, crab and fish. It is finished with a layer of cheese and put in the oven to make it form a crust. It is served with lemon, coriander, fried plantain and rice. And of course spicy sauces like ají sauce. Cazuela is traditionally served in a black clay bowl securely balanced on a wooden board. The way to eat cazuela de mariscos is to drop some of the rice into the bowl, add lemon juice and coriander and then start eating! It is delicious and it is hard to finish the complete bowl as it is so rich.
